Our bodies speak to us through pain and discomfort. Whether you are feeling it emotionally or physically -- access to the issue, whether through deep tissue or lighter, more energetic work, allows you to realign your physical and energetic bodies.
Heather's specialties include deep tissue, myofascial therapy, Craniosacral therapy, and alignment/movement/breath practices based in yoga.
The body is a blueprint of all experiences and emotions, sometimes leaving a physical mark. Much of my work revolves around breath, opening myofascial adhesions and Craniosacral therapy, a technique for balancing the flow of cerebral spinal fluid that protects your central nervous system.
Slow-paced connective and deep tissue manipulation, integrated with Craniosacral therapy. Using my intuition as a guide and aimed toward balancing your body and bringing you into a state of awareness. A combination of light and deep work, where appropriate.
Incorporating meditation, yoga asana (postures), and breathwork, to various degrees. Not every body needs the same postures, needs also vary on a daily basis due to shifts in your body and emotional state. Movement follows breath.
I've been lucky enough to have met with Heather for a variety of therapies in every trimester of my pregnancy. I've seen benefits across the board for specific issues/ problems I've experienced over the last 9 months. In my first trimester, I had extreme lower back pain due to spending many evenings hunched over on a cold floor. Just having my back, shoulders and neck worked on was extremely effective in relieving that tension and helping me feel less tight overall. In to my second trimester, we tried a combination of massage and Craniosacral therapy focusing on my hips and near my belly. As I started feeling the effects of the increased relaxin hormone in my body, having Heather focus on areas of pain felt fantastic and anytime she focused energy near my belly, my daughter would kick -- which was a really great experience. For days after my appointments I slept better, had less specific pain-points and was overall more positive because my body simply felt better. I am so grateful to have been able to see her so often and am not sure how I would have made it to 9 months without her help.
Heather has been an inspiring and fabulous yoga teacher for the past year for me. She works with me as a scoliosis patient and modifies our yoga sessions to fit the curvature of my spine. In the past year I have made significant strides in controlling and lessening a curve on my left side. Heather has shown me the tools to stretch and breathe into parts of my body that have not been turned on for years. My husband even noticed a difference in how much straighter I walk and how my head is much more straight. Heather has the patience to work with her clients in a nurturing setting. Heather also will travel to her client’s home to do home sessions. That is a bonus in the yoga world. Heather is an amazing individual who embodies all the good qualities that yoga and meditation have to offer. I highly recommend her for yoga, meditation or body work.
The most discernible benefits I've received from working with Heather are relief from muscle tension and stress. However, I have also noticed more subtle changes after a session as well. Along with being incredibly relaxing, massage and Craniosacral therapy have also helped improve my mood. My energy is elevated and I am less likely to get irritated with everyday stresses for long periods of time after sessions. I have also noticed that my sensitivity to the energy around me increases after a Craniosacral session and I feel more attune to the energy of those around me after a session.
Heather's in depth study of yoga has made her a natural with body and energetic work. Her compassionate heart and loving intentions help her to work with the energetic body in a way that surpasses the effect of manual body work. You will not only feel relaxed muscularly, you will feel a deep inner working towards peace and steadiness that doesn't end when you leave your session. The unraveling continues so that the work continues in your life. This is a rare gift, one that comes from a studied and embodied place. Her hands follow her heart as she responds to yours. There is no judgement just a loving relationship of body, breath, insight and intention.
As I continuously refine my ability to bring myself home, I want to help you find compassion and connection - qualities that are abundant within us all. I want to help you feel the love that is abundant and universal. I hold a safe space that allows you to feel your emotions in a way that gives you more information and a step up in opening up to a more whole version of yourself.
My own journey has ushered me in overcoming anxiety and opening to who I am in my heart - an intuitive and healing person. After studying computer science, as a web developer in corporate environments, teaching yoga on the side. 10 years later, I felt I no longer fit into that role and couldn't ignore my desire to develop my intution on a deeper level.
Teaching yoga since 2012, I have been drawn towards the principles embodied by Ashtanga yoga. Traveling to study in Thailand with Richard Freeman opened my senses to teach focused on slower movement and more internal focus. In 2018, I became an LMT (licensed massage therapist) to further my skills in helping nourish and nurture others.
